Ash Gaming Online Casinos

This outfit has been making high-end slot games since 2002, and although it was swallowed up by the increasingly dominant Playtech in 2011, Ash have been permitted to continue operating as a largely independent outfit and have retained their London-based development staff.

All seasoned online casino players are aware of Ash and their slot range, however they do also have a foothold in the virtual racing and fixed odds/instant win markets, as well as offering over one hundred varieties of videopoker. Nonetheless, it’s the slots that make the headlines, which is hardly surprising, as Ash have some extraordinary titles to their name:

For a great example of their attention to detail, check out the superlative level of intricacy employed with Alice’s Wonderland: Whilst no-one in the slot industry has managed to obtain the full rights to the source material for this story or any of the films made using it, a number of Alice-themed slots have appeared over the years, but compare them to Ash’s version and you’ll see the difference in quality.

Ash’s wonderland comes with a beautifully-rendered English country garden theme with all the requisite flora, fauna and associated sound effects blended in to perfection. You can almost smell the fresh grass…
A similar level of exquisite detail is used in War of the Worlds, though this time the licencing is in place and the imagery and sound from the definitive Jeff Wayne musical version of the story is used to stunning effect.

The Victorian styling familiar to millions from the album cover is used throughout – so much so that two versions of the game are offered, with one stripped down to a lesser level of detail for speedier loading. Players will also find a skill-based bonus round on offer – a far cry from the unimaginative lucky dip-style scenarios that still dominate. This round involves shooting down the infamous Tripods, in not one but three iconic locations around the UK.

Although they’ve yet to get involved in 3d video slots, Ash’s games are still the most visually rich offerings in Playtech’s catalogue. With Playtech’s preference for loud, chunky, stylings, Ash’s high-details approach complements the other games superbly, adding a specialist, endearingly quirky feel that make each game look like a mini work of art rather than a production line slot.

All of Ash’s games are produced using Flash, which ties in well with Playtech’s preference for instant play games that work straight from any browser – and now that they’re on board with Playtech, their games are reaching a far greater audience at a far greater speed than ever before. Not bad for a team of 40-odd staff, many of whom started at Ash on work placement schemes and are still there to this day – which shows just how committed this delightfully quirky, niche slot manufacturer really is.
